- bad news about the piano. it is too old to restore. the tuner came today, and gave me a lot of useful info. basically, it's a very old design, called a 'birdcage' (guess i got one that had a bird on it already!), which hasn't been made since around world war two. so, it's twenty five cents flat, which is more than it should be, and indicates it would be a hard restore. so we decided to pass on that, and i'll just have to get rid of it. it's a shame, since i was looking forward to working with it. i guess i will still make some recordings of it (one of which is likely to appear in the next record from one horse town).

- making good progress getting through the to-do list. having all this free time is fantastic, though there's still nothing but work to be done. i haven't even launched the studio in days. i'm thinking next week will be a big music week, so i can live with that. today was a bit slack. i got distracted by reading the paris review, and never really recovered. i know that theoretically this is good 'relaxation time', but i can't stop working on things. well, it has it's ups and downs.

- saw an interesting film today: presspauseplay. i liked the subject matter, but they didn't really make much of a statement or value judgment on the topic. the narrative got a bit diverted by talking to idiots like hilary rosen and sean parker, neither of whom really contributed anything to the film. worth watching nonetheless, if only to get to thinking about the value of (assuming there is any, inherently) of art, music, and writing in post-social networked culture. interesting, but ultimately not terribly satisfying.

- some things: started exercising. started growing mushrooms (of the non-magical variety). bought a new computer (hackintosh). did some informatik work with da5id earlier this week. doing a lot of cleaning and redecorating. bought a new camera (nishika lenticular camera), which looks amazing but will probably be difficult to work with (weird processing, etc). 

- planning out some new minor projects to work on. website stuff and some new artwork stuff. at least some embyronic ideas are on my mind, of things and mediums i don't usually work in. so, we'll see where that goes, if anywhere.
